Far from a cheap reality stunt, FX's provocative documentary series Black.White. (Wednesdays, 10 pm/ET) is an endlessly curious and unexpectedly intelligent social experiment, airing over six weeks, in which two families, one black and one white, don makeup to see how the other race lives. As they explore new cultures and attitudes, their own perceptions of what's happening to them are as dramatic as what actually happens. Under the skin, none of these people are stereotypes. They're exasperatingly human.
